“I love the solitude of reading. I love the deep dive into someone else’s story, the delicious ache of a last page.” – Naomi Shihab Nye

Summer Reading is Coming!
Get ready to dig in when Summer Reading returns June 1! This year’s theme, Unearth a Story, brings all things dinosaurs, archaeology, and paleontology to life. Starting June 1, grab your game board online or from any library location and read to earn incentives along the way. You’ll even have a chance to win a grand prize! Be sure to read the June Current for all the details on how to participate.
Important note about lunches:
While our libraries won’t serve as summer meal pickup locations this year, the school district will continue to offer free food services. Learn more here.

Though we are hosting local history programs about the Reconstruction Era and the Pardo Expeditions (1566 – 1568) later this month, I’d like to draw your attention to one of our more unusual local history topics to date: the cochineal bug and its imperial and economic history.

All branches offer complimentary access to self-service stations where you can easily scan documents, photos, books, and more. You can print, email, or fax your documents within the US, and the touchscreen provides simple, step-by-step guidance along the way. The station also offers translation features and lets you save your scans directly to a USB drive. These units are quite the popular service in our branches. Come see why!
