Dino-mite Fun this Summer!

Bluffton Library staff dressed in costumes for an event.
Think you know your dinosaurs? Put your prehistoric knowledge to the test at the Dinorific Scientific Name Game with Mr. Mike the Dinosaur Guy! In this interactive, game-show style program, you'll try to decide whether a dinosaur or ancient animal name is real, or something Mr. Mike made up! It's easy to play, surprisingly tricky to win, and packed with laughs and learning for all ages. Find him at a library near you July 9-11. For more fun Summer Reading events, explore our online calendar.

Local History

We’ve heard you! We’ve extended the deadline for you to complete the “Revealing the Revolution Historical Marker Challenge.”
Return those game sheets to us by July 31 to be eligible for the limited-edition car stickers and challenge coins prizes.  To be entered into the Grand Prize drawing for a framed reproduction Mills Atlas Beaufort District Map (1825) the original deadline of July 2nd remains in effect. Repeating: Those who turn in completed game sheets July 3 - 31 will be eligible only for the car sticker and challenge coin – while supplies last. Game sheets can be returned to star-spangled ballot boxes at each library location, submitted online, or mailed (with your stamp) to the Beaufort County Historical Society.
Beaufort County is a very busy place these days. We’ve been made aware of construction and traffic challenges near some of the markers. Safety must come first. If you think an in-person visit to an historic site is too dicey, you can look up most of the markers online to complete the game sheet.
We’ve extended the date for return of the easy-peasy shorter Library Quest game sheets too. Go to any of the branch libraries or onto the bookmobiles to find the hidden-in- plain-sight clues – and the QR codes to the answers. Return the game sheet on or before July 31 to the star-spangled ballot boxes at each location and the fine folks of the Beaufort County Historical Society will mail a limited-edition car sticker to you – while supplies last.
Our partners for this BDC project are the Beaufort County Historical Society and the Beaufort County 250th Committee who gave us the funds to purchase car stickers and challenge coins.
