Local History

As part of the BDC's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Sydney wrote a post about Spanish moss for our BDC Connections blog. Those of us who grew up in the Lowcountry have heard many legends of its origin, like that the moss is the ghostly remains of a conquistador's beard! Sydney was diligent in her search to find the "truth" behind the myths of Beaufort's beloved bromeliaceae!
